Purchase orders that are placed on OMG sites are processed without taking payment information from the customer at the time of checkout. So what happens when you need to remove an order from a PO store? The answer is simple! Follow the instructions below to be able to process a PO "refund" that will record in reporting.
Refund Process
Step 1: Navigate to the order overview page.
Note: You can do this by going to the "manage orders" screen from the store overview, or you can search it by clicking the magnifying glass at the top toolbar.
Step 2: Click "Edit Order" from the left-hand action menu.
Step 3: Go to the "products" tab of the editor.
Step 4: Click into the "remove" checkbox to the right of the products in the order to refund.
Step 5: Click the green "update" button at the bottom of the page.
Step 6: Click the green "Save & Return" button in the top right hand corner.
That's all there is to it! No need to go into the "charges & refunds" tab to process a change, as there is no money to return to the customer. Attempting to do so will result in an error where the order will show a pending "charge" that will need to be removed by our engineering Team.
Starting on Feb 1, a fee of $0.99 on all orders that total $0. This excludes orders that have a gift card or coupon applied!
FAQ's
Q: The order I need to refund also has fees and shipping. How do I remove those amounts?
A: If you need to also refund shipping or taxes/fees from an order, please refer to how to remove them from an order from these help center articles! You'll follow the same process of removing them from the order and clicking the "save & return" button without processing any actual refund.
Q: Will the OMG fees be refunded with a refunded order?
A: The OMG fees will not be refunded for a PO order that has been cancelled.
Q: How is this reported for invoicing purposes to our client?
A: When refunded properly, PO refunds will report to the initial purchase order payment method that was marked for the transaction. This means that when running a transaction report, filtering for "custom" payment methods, you'll be able to properly see refunds deducted from the net amount collected on the store.
