Do you have products in your store that are required? Product info you want to make sure your customers don't skip over? This is where the mandatory and required boxes come in! These features help you ensure that you receive the information you need and that your customers purchase what they need.
Mandatory Product
Marking a product as mandatory is ideal for uniforms or any item that is essential to the customer. These products will be clearly indicated in the store.
Step 1: Click the Products tab.
Step 2: Click on the product that needs to be mandatory.
Step 3: Click the Mandatory? checkbox.
Step 4: Click the green Save changes button in the upper right corner.
The customer will see a red Required tag on the storefront.
Pro Tip: Marking a product as mandatory will not prevent customers from checking out. Instead, customers will see a warning at checkout letting them know that they are missing mandatory products.
Mandatory Option
Sizes and colors are always defaulted to be required, but optional fields can also be marked as mandatory! Making an option as required is great for logo options and required information like name, rank, or position.
Step 1: Select the optional field by clicking the + Add Option (Learn how to create a custom option here).
Step 2: Add any necessary information (character limit, extra price, etc.).
Step 3: Click the Make Required? box.
Step 4: Click the green checkmark once done. You can click the red X to remove the option.
On the storefront, there will be an additional required field.
For required options, the customer will be required to enter a selection before being able to add the product to their cart.
Now when your customer is in the store, they will more clearly see which products are absolutely necessary to purchase! With mandatory and required options, you'll be able to gather all of the product information needed and eliminate unnecessary back and forth with the customer.
